This is our twelfth investor update as we come up on just about a year since we brought in our first investments. We’ve come a long way since then and there’s certainly further to go.
Our road show seems to be fruitful and we are having lots of conversations with interested customers and investors. We’re focused on executing our pilots and converting these prospects into concrete projects.
Three wins
Socorro zoning approval + conditional use permit: after many hours of public meetings, the Socorro City Council voted unanimously to 1) re-instate A1 Agricultural Zoning to the city ordinance 2) re-zone the Loya’s property to this new A1 designation and 3) grant the Loya’s a conditional use permit for our pilot desalination system. Socorro’s Mayor Cruz made the case for the council to approve so we have an ally there. Much more on that here.

Shop upgrades! A local start-up and we were able to benefit by winning some items at their liquidation auction. For a while our engineering team had been complaining about the lack of sturdy work benches: we’ve worked almost exclusively with plastic folding tables over the past 10 months. We picked up two solid workbenches and some other useful items, all for just under a grant.

Grant submission: Earlier in October Jenny led an effort to write and submit a grant proposal to the MassCEC’s InnovateMass program in a partnership spearheaded by Christine. We received letters of support from two Canadian Conservation Authorities whom have measured rising levels of chlorine over the past 50 years due to accummulation of road salt in the local waterways. Our proposal is to treat stormwater retention ponds to remove much of this salt before it is discharged to the environment. We may have significant funds coming from the Regional government.

Project delays
Unfortunately nearly all of our projects are slipping in their schedules for a variety of reasons: shipping delays, partner coordination, and tasks generally taking longer than we think they will. We are still scheduled to have all of our pilots up and running by the end of Q1 2026. Our crew is still learning some of the ropes and growing into larger responsibilities. As we look ahead we will certainly want to bring our planned and executed project timelines into better alignment.
What’s up ahead
Haig will travel to Arizona next week to pitch at a Plug and Play Water Technology Showcase.
Over at Chelsea, we should finally be commissioning Danny and commencing our XPRIZE testing next week. You are all invited to visit during November to see these pilots working.
We will be pitching in Cambridge next week at Greentown’s Climate Summit and at the MIT Energy Night. Christine will attend a Desalination Technology Expo (a new event) in Valencia.
We are bringing on a new team member, Elyse Barnard, on a contract basis to help us put together Gemini and Mesquite. Elyse comes from the healthcare industry and has experience in marketing and customer relationships. She might assist us with external relations later on down the road.
As always, reach out if you have any questions, suggestions, or connections.
