Searay, our first seawater pilot, is on its way to Singapore! After running our first seawater desalination tests on Saturday, May 17th we kept Searay running for several days, hosted ~11 visitors, and then crated it up late last week. The good folks at the Fitzgerald Shipyard helped us load it onto the truck this morning.

We will wait for Searay to fly over to Singapore and clear customs before heading over ourselves to re-assemble the pilot, re-commission it, and train Gradiant’s researchers to operate the system.

The team has had some time to reflect on the build, and we are quite proud of our work. It not only works and looks great, but also came together in a short amount of time considering most of our team members are new to the desalination industry.

For some perspective:
Just over six months ago, we had just decided to assemble these pilots ourselves and were searching for a suitable space.
Nearly five months ago, we moved into our new spot in Chelsea. We plan to move to a larger space on the same property over the coming weeks.
Three months ago to the day, we started machining 80/20 pieces to assemble Searay’s frame.
Earlier in May, we ran our first wet tests on Searay with de-ionized water before moving onto real seawater with a nano-filtration (NF) membrane, and finally seawater with a reverse osmosis (RO) element.

Thank you for investing in this venture. This milestone would not have been possible without your support, financially and otherwise.
We took a breather over the long weekend but are right back at it. We’ve got three more pilots to build this summer. We’re excited to improve our process, get those pilots up and running, and out to their destinations.
